National Championships Report
Day 1 has concluded and there was a slit between players retaining their titles and new ones picking up the Gold Medals in a jam packed day at Sport Wales National Centre, Cardiff.
Cadet Boys Singles – Louie Evans won the Cadet Boys for the first time beating Rhys Hetherton in the final. Evan O’Connor played a great match vs Louie in the semis. The other semi was Oscar Marriott vs Rhys.
Cadet Girls Singles – Anna Hursey retained the title beating Lara Whitton in the final. Lara came through beating Sophie Barcsai whilst Anna beat Bethan Jones in the other half.
Junior Girls Doubles – Lara Whitton won her second title of the day, along with club mate Grace Clement. They beat Anna Hursey & Beth Richards in the final. Morgan Day Davies/Beth Jones and Lydia John/Danielle Kelly were semi finalists.
Junior Boys Doubles – Louie Evans & Joseph Roberts won the Boys doubles beating Cade Short & Benedict Watson in the final. Iestyn Howells/Ben Allen & Rhys Hetherton/Oscar Marriott made the semi final lineup.
Mark Simon took the Over 50 singles beating Mark Farrow in a tight final
Dennis Bromage won the Over 70 singles beating Colin Price in the final
Disability Para Singles
Josh Stacey (Standing) & Cellan Hall (Wheelchair) were Gold medalists in the Para singles today. Paul Karabardak & Rob Davies took Silver
Junior Boys Singles – Benedict Watson took the cup back home once again. This year he defeated club mate Cade Short in the final 11/6 in the final set. Joseph Roberts and Louie Evans reached the semi finals.
Junior Girls Singles – Lara Whitton lifted the cup with 2 great wins on the way. In the semi final she beat Anna Hursey and then Danielle Kelly in the final both 3/0. Beth Richards was the other player who made the last 4.
